Boaz = Ruths redeemer: Jesus = my Redeemer

Ruth went to lie at the feet of Boaz in the traditional way of submission in the culture of the Jews at the time. This was a sign of showing Boaz that she wanted to be his helpmate. She presented herself with HER best clothes, rubbed oils into her skin to smell nice and made sure she was clean and as well presented as it was possible for a poor widow living in a cave at the time.

When Boaz discovered Ruth at his feet in the middle of the night, he had the choice of chasing her away, rejecting her silent request, making a fool of her by proclaiming to the world that this women came to his bedding in the dark and in doing so making her look like a loose woman of the night, laughing in her face as she was a Moabite and not one of them. He did none of these things.

Boaz listened to her carefully with gentleness and compassion.
He acknowledged that he was her redeemer according to their cultures and laws.
He gently pointed out the fact that there was someone else who had the first right as her redeemer (which shows that he has already done his homework on her and Naomi).
Boaz assured her that he would personally make sure that the other redeemer knows of his rights and if he does not wish to marry Ruth, Boaz promised her that he would marry her and look after her and protect her.
He then gently covered her with his blanket and told her to sleep safely till the morning.
He woke Ruth early enough that nobody would know she came to him in the night - protecting her name and reputation.
He provided, unasked for, in abundance with barley so that Ruth and Naomi would be cared for while he needs to inquire from the other redeemer what he planned to do.
He spend time finding this man and making sure that all their dealings was legal and above board (reproach).
Boaz kept his promise and when he was given the right, married Ruth and took Naomi in as well.

From the marriage of Boaz and Ruth came a generation of Judes from which line the Messias was born. The one who beacme MY Redeemer and called me to be His bride.

Jesus also covers me with His protection.
Jesus loves me and you.
Jesus keeps all His promises - it never comes back empty.
Jesus is my Provider.
Jesus folds me in the folds of His love.
Jesus covers me under His wings.
Jesus gave me a new name and I am now the daughter of ABBA
Jesus rewrote my past and gave me a beautiful, ever lasting future of joy and love and happiness.

Thank you Abba, for your gift of the Redeemer.
